Montana Outdoors
Really pretty – wish we could have some of that – blue sky!! I won’t complain too loud though – we need the rain, I think!! They help the flowers bloom and grow and bloom and grow!! ;o)

Outside of the brief time during which these photos were taken, we’ve had rain clouds, but no measurable rain. Today the forecast is for high winds.

It’s one of the endearing things about spring here. The clouds are spectacular in late summer too, when thunderstorms sweep in.

One of those days when Montana lives up to its Big Sky Country tagline.
By the way, Glacier and other parks are waiving their entry fees during National Park Week April 17-25.

I saw that about Glacier. Not much for roads open yet though, but they will be open much earlier this year.

It really is awesome Scott, especially when viewed from fairly high up. The road I was hiking on is still closed by snow a little further up but makes a great hike on an evening..

We had 84 degrees too, but it took us two days to accumulate that much. The last few days haven’t been out of the 40’s. Today we had a brief very heavy snow and the temp was 33. I actually got a couple shots of wildflowers just before the heaviest of it hit. That involved changing a lens while holding an umbrella against the wind. The snow wasn’t much of a problem, but the wind was.

One of the many reasons why I like being in the high country is that it gives perspective on the mountains and the sky. I’ve always liked that and I’m sure I always will.

This time of year, the roads to the real high country trail heads are still closed because of ice and snow. These were taken at about 4,000 feet on a road that is nice to hike even though it’s not yet drivable much higher. Of an evening I can drive the Jeep up a mile or two and then hike another couple of miles, which I do for conditioning, and get some great views too. My “gym fees” are only a little bit for gas to get to the road (about 5 miles).
