“Spotlight On” The Montana Natural History Center.

Filed under: Montana, Nature — Tags: — montucky @ 9:52 pm

The Montana Natural History Center, a non-profit organization located in Missoula Montana was founded in 1991 by a group of educators who had the vision to create a natural history center as a resource for schools and the public. It was originally housed on the University of Montana campus and now resides in its own home near McCormick Park in the heart of Missoula. Its mission is to promote and cultivate the appreciation, understanding, and stewardship of nature through education.

The Center has started this new blog site to feature naturalist observations on western Montana’s plants, animals and activities and to share some of the Naturalist activities that it does, spread some knowledge and excitement about Western Montana’s natural areas, and encourage others to do the same. They plan to do a “Spotlight On” post each week featuring native plants of western Montana.

This will be a great site for nature lovers, particularly those who live in this region. I have already found the new site to be interesting, informative and helpful. (Perhaps they can even help me to correctly identify for a change, some of the plants that I photograph!)

    • Thank you for the kind words, Jewel! I think it will be just as nice before they are through, and more informative, too. It is just getting started now. I know I’ll learn a lot from it.
