They are variously referred to as Western Larch or Tamarack. I don’t know what the technical difference is, if there is one. There is also an Alpine Larch, which is a much smaller version.
Very close. I used a polarizing filter, which brought out the blue somewhat and cleared up a slight haze in the air, but the result was just about what my eye saw.
Snow, huh! I’ve heard of that. We’ve had a little so far at the house, but the mountains are white now and more coming down in the next few days. Personally, I could have waited awhile.
I hope to try for some snow pictures in the next few days if I can get into the high country. It has been raining down lower, and getting from there to the snow while staying dry is an issue.
Are those yellow trees Tamarack trees?? Beautiful!
