  1. That noise you can hear is my furnace running! ACK,…. it’s that chilly here already. Yes,.. where DID the summer go?

    • Sounds like your summer left before ours did this year. We’ve had a few nights in the 30’s, but today was 89. This might be one of those years when we have a long Indian summer then drop right below freezing all at once.

  2. That last photo is so pretty. It looks like one of those fiber optic (is that what they are called?), Christmas trees, but just about ten thousand times prettier!

    • My wife also said they reminded her of the fiber optic Christmas lights. I know they have a very utilitarian purpose, but besides that they sure are pretty! When I saw them this morning I was happy that I made the hike down to the river (they are right on the bank).

    • They are amazing, aren’t they! I wouldn’t think that flower would go through that kind of transformation.

    • You might make it ’till November. This is supposed to be a dry warm winter around here. We haven’t needed a fire yet, though a few nights have been a little cool.

    • Too quickly, Malcolm, and the snow will be too soon this year I think. Perhaps I should become a migratory animal!

  7. Wow! What wonderful shots! Truly amazing and splendiferous! Makes a very showing exit doesn’t it? Lovely. I’d consider framing a couple of these. 😀

  8. Because I don’t generally read the comments of others before I comment, I completely missed out on the award for which you have been selected. What do they do, give you an “award badge” to place on your blog? It is fantastic that they have chosen your work to honor. Way to go, Terry! Congratulations.

Incidentally, there is a place any of you may like to visit. The Writer’s Digest is the “bible for writers” or wannabe writers. I purchase it and receive a newsletter online. This recently came to me. It is for photographs, not writing. Check it out (If the line breaks, copy/paste it to your browser):

    • Yes, it’s a badge. Perhaps I’ll figure out how to put it on the blog: in the mean time, I do appreciate it!

  9. Yes, where does the time go. This feels so much like the lost summer for me. Those individual seeds images are outstanding, Terry. Really nicely done!

    • You have had a lot going on this summer, Ed. I have too for some reason; not the stuff I’d prefer, but necessary. We need two consecutive summers this year!

    • The seeds would make good ornaments if one could figure out how to use them. I think though I’ll jsut admire them where they are.

  12. July. BOOM! September. It really did happen just that fast!

All of your milkweed shots are fantastic, but that last one is a spectacle extraordinaire!

I’m so pleased Tabbie had you listed as part of the blogroll over at the Garden. You’ve earned yourself a new fan.
