Such vivid oranges and reds–looks like a raging sea of fire!

Many times I’ve seen those colors in the embers of a campfire, but the magnitude of the terrain in the photo does indeed make the sea image more appropriate.

That was one of my Dad’s sayings too. We do get lots of pretty sunsets. I was fortunate to be at the top of a peak when this one brightened up.

I always thought that the sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico were the most brilliant,…but must say that your photo absolutely takes first place!

This was taken from about 6,800 feet elevation. In the foreground the mountain drops off nearly a mile to the valley, then climbs again to over 7,000 feet at the peaks at the horizon. The clouds are fairly low over the high country.

The photo was taken only about 15 miles from the house. I will try to get more sunsets from the higher peaks.

As usual, I’m behind in visiting other blogs. And you certainly do not need my comment. But cannot pass by without stating this sunset is astounding. While you know I think all of your photos are top notch, you outdid yourself with this one! Well, God had a hand in it as well, but you managed to capture it. The colors and contrasts are magnificent. Sometimes rarefied air does that. If there was ever a photo made for framing to be hung, this one is it! Stunning!

That is one of the best sunsets I’ve seen. I love the reddish orange glow of the sky. sunsets are just so good.
