These are just beginning to bloom now in the high country. They are tiny and usually ignored, but when you look closely, they seem to have their own little celebration going on. I think this group was celebrating the rain.
Spreading Dogbane Apocynum androsaemifolium
Dogbane family
These little ones, especially. They are just beginning their season this late when the forest is quite dry. I would think that rain this time of year is vital to their cycle.
I am fascinated by the tiny wonders of the world. This is yet another brilliant exposé you have given us of things we might not otherwise have noticed. Beautiful!
Very pretty pink and I like the raindrops on them.

I always love the forest and plants during or after a rain. It emphasizes how vital the rain is to the whole ecology.

It does look like a celebration! I wish these flowers had a nicer name instead of dogbane. Beautiful photos!

Yes, I think whoever named many of the wildflowers could have done much better. These are much prettier than their name!

I don’t remember ever seeing any of these wild-looking wildflowers. I’m guessing dogs really don’t like them.

They aren’t especially noticeable if you don’t look really close. It is toxic for livestock, but I haven’t a clue what a dog might have to do with it.

Wow… such color. I always enjoy the sparkles. They almost look like a bunch of Christmas bows.

I’m always in awe of nature’s flower arrangements. We would be hard pressed to duplicate them I think.

I think so too. I read that their design really attracts the larger insects.

I’m fascinated too, Tabbie. I’ve seen these little ones many times but never as closely as the lens takes me. They are gorgeous little creatures!

I love the water, like crystals, magnifying the flower’s details.

I do too, scienceguy. The drops are pretty and the symbolism is important to me.
