  1. That is one of my favorite flowers! I love the shades of purple in the petals. Great close-ups!

    • They are pretty, aren’t they! Seem to have a whimsical look to them.

  2. Excellent depth and detail. I must say that the flower looks like it is floating in air in that top image. I think a stem would anchor it a bit. But beautiful images, Terry.

  3. Love the second one — feels like you’ve caught it, split-second, as it is opening.

    • That one was just thinking about opening. Seemed like a kind of private moment.

  4. Great captures in detail and depth. I especially like the 2nd photo.

    • Thanks Anna. They are early this year, and are very widespread in the sandy areas just above the river. Very small though compared to the big white daisies that haven’t begun to bloom here yet.

  5. Wonderful color and comp Terry, you have really got some great wildflower shots this year !!

    Comment by Bernie Kasper — May 28, 2009 @ 6:49 am

    • This has been a good year for wildflowers so far. There are at least 20 more that are yet to bloom (that I can recall).

  6. oh wow! and purple on the outside?

    • They have very subtle colors, silken. These are only about the size of a dime.

  7. Love the peeks of purple on the curled up ray flowers!

You’ve been posting lots of great flower photos while I was away – I don’t have time to comment on all of them, but good work!

    • Thanks Adam. It is a good year for most of the wildflowers here.

  9. That second shot really floats my boat! Nature is so very lovely, and I never stop appreciating all the photos of her that you share with us.

    • I’m glad you enjoy seeing these things, Tabbie! So many of these wildflowers don’t get any attention at all.
