What a pleasant surprise to find these this evening along the creek! They are the first I’ve seen.

  1. What lovely detail — these flowers are pristine!

    • The violets are at their peak of blooming at the elevation of the lower end of the creek. The temptation is to take a million photos!

  2. Looks like the Common Blue Violet variant that I mentioned a few weeks back. Excellent color and detail.

    • Yes, I’m quite sure it’s a variant. I compared it to the photo that you posted. I’ve never noticed a white one before, and your photo was in the back of my mind when I saw the white among lots of blues.

  3. Only shades of purple here. Haven’t seen a yellow violet nor a white one in many years. Nice shots.

    • Yellows are common here, but they grow at higher elevations and haven’t begun to bloom yet. When they do, they will be around for most of the summer.

  4. These white violets are gorgeous!Very nice closeup captures. I haven’t seen these type before. I’ll pay more attention, though, when out in the woods and by the creeks now that the wildflowers are blooming here.

    • I hadn’t seen them before either, but when Ed posted a photo and mentioned that it was a variation, I began to look for them. I’ve found several in or near groups of the blues.

  7. wow – amazingly tough shot. I got a few hookspur’s recently and they were so dang tiny that even a bit of wind tossed it into chaos! Applause! Great work!

    • Tiny flowers really present a challenge, don’t they! Size, wind motion, light colors, low to the ground… Sure are pretty though!
