This afternoon, in an unlikely spot just above the river, a flash of blue caught my attention and there I found that the Wild Hyacinths have just begun to bloom. I couldn’t resist posting one picture: I’m sure I will post more later.

Golly, its hard to keep up with you these days. You seem to be coming up with three great subjects for every one of mine! This blue on black composition looks just great. The detail is excellent and the colors really, REALLY pop!

Well, our wildflowers are all starting their season. Just off the top of my head the other day I counted more than 30 more that will bloom before mid summer. The colors on these are bright this year, maybe because they are the first ones to open. Later they will be ligter color.

I almost walked past these. They were below me on a very steep hillside. Luckily you can notice that color at a distance.

Thanks Anna. It seems like blue is the wildflower color of the moment. Pretty soon the blue lupines will bloom too.

I had no idea wild hyacinths grew in Montana — no idea whatsoever. 😳 They sure are pretty, and your photograph is amazing!

They seem to grow with little fanfare, just a very long stem with a few buds on top, then explode with form and color.

what can I say except I’m jealous I keep looking for these lovely things but so far no luck! You have captured them in a very lovely and delicate way! They remind of me camas.. really beautiful and not the easiest shot in the world. Great work! I love how you can see even the texture of the “petals.”

They do resemble Camas. They have many color variations and I saw some the other day that were light colored, about the color of Camas.
