Umbrella shot

After a long dry spell, today we had a wonderful, heavy rain! It’s so good to walk through a forest that’s bright green and dripping with falling rain and catch a shot of a wildflower from under an umbrella: especially a single Shooting star stem with five flower heads!

Last evening while on a short exploratory trip to see if some Sego Lillies that I had heard about were in bloom (they weren’t), I noticed these blooming on a very dry and barren part of Camas Prairie. I had never seen this particular species before.
