On the edge of the fog.

Yesterday in the early morning, just as the fog over the river began to lift and I happened to be positioned just at the edge of it, I was struck by two different scenes that Nature presented.

These two photos were taken only two minutes apart, the first of a little window facing away from the fog and the sun and the second facing down stream into the fog and about ninety degrees from the sun, each making the world appear entirely differently. Such is the natural world.

  2. I think it’s those little “windows” that often give us the best views of nature. Nice contrasting scenes.

    • I think so too. Often it seems like a slide show out there.

    • I was thinking of them that way too. They are brief, but replaced by new ones often.

    • I love it when scenes light up like that. I had to hike a half mile down to that area when I saw some light patterns beginning to form through the fog, thinking all the while I would miss it all. It changed many times but I got there in time to see this version so I thought it was worth the try.

  5. Fabulous photos.

Sometimes life is like that, too. Just turn around and it’s an entirely different landscape confronting you.

    • Maybe I have posted too many, but I love seeing the fog and being out in it. Not overly fond of driving in it though.

  7. Also hate driving in the fog and here in NC we really have some bad ones, but I love your fog pictures…they are wonderful. I love that second shot.

    • The driving is nasty, but the scenery is great! We often get freezing fog, which I think is the worst kind for drivers because it coats the roads with ice and makes visibility just terrible.
