Through the fog (Black & white conversion)

Through the fog (Full color)

  1. Both beautiful..prefer the first one. There’s just something about black and white that makes me want to take note of every bit of the photo. It just draws me in..

    • I prefer the first one myself. The two were taken 26 seconds apart, so there’s a comparison there.

One of the things I’m learning is that not every photo looks good in B & W, but some look better than in color.

  3. The foreground seems to stand out better in the b&w,… all in all, just more dramatic! Nice shot!

    • I think dramatic is a good word for it. I find myself looking at the B & W much more than the color. I’m having fun with the fog!

  4. The last two posts are eerie…and most hypnotic.

    Fabulous captures!

    • Thanks, Pinhole! Morning fog creates all kinds of things and as I walk through it scenes just pop up and beg to be photographed. And all o the time I’m learning!

  5. Absolutely love the black and white images from yesterday and today. They are superb! They capture the mood perfectly.

    • Thanks Ed! ‘m exploring a new area here. Outside of a very few that I took in the early 80’s, these are the first B & W that I’ve tried in 60 years. I think I’ve been missing out on a lot of opportunities.

  6. Richness of color tones and slightly higher contrast in the second photograph makes more visually interesting photograph to me…what a wonderful times for a photography (morning fog ) in your part of the world…

    • Thanks Robert! While the morning fogs continue, I’m trying to catch what I consider interesting and learn more about photography at the same time. thank goodness for digital or I couldn’t afford the experiments!

Fog creates lighting effects that can be fascinating and, to me at least, surprising.

  7. What contrasts between the black & white and color. Both are beautiful and captivating, and I really like both equally. 🙂 Great captures, montucky.

    • Thanks Anna! There is quite a contrast, isn’t there! By really scrutinizing both I’m beginning to understand a little more about the effects of light conditions.

  8. This image works extremely well in B & W, But I like the colour version also. Almost monochrome too.
