Spring trees...Winter pond.

  1. Love the contrasting trees. The colors are so complementary. What kind of trees are the ones in the foreground?

    • They are a species of willow, but I don’t know which one. I think we have 25 species in Montana. They turn quite colorful in early spring, then pale green when the new leaves start.

  2. The overcast lighting really brings out the colors. Very nice.

    • Thanks, Chris! Yes, the colors stood out against the whites and that attracted me to the scene. I had to work a bit for this one, fighting through brush and thick cattails to get a clear shot, but I was pleased with it.

  3. Your trees are getting ready for spring? How cool is that! Lovely contrast in the photo.

Can you believe February is almost gone. We hit March and usually have a little March Madness as far as the weather goes, but it’s pretty much warming up from now on.

    • March is a wonderful month here! The weather gets wild and wooly with dramatic swings from day to day and even hour to hour. For those who love to be outdoors in extreme weather, it simply can’t be beat! I always carry an array of different clothing in my pack and include rain gear and an umbrella (for taking pictures) and make sure to have chains in the Jeep too.

  4. Trees are budding? wow,… maybe spring is really closer, we got rain yesterday, instead of snow. Lovely contrast in your photo.

    • I think the trees have it right. Wednesday night/Thursday morning we had 4 inches of new snow. Yesterday was cold and cloudy with a bit of a biting breeze. Last night was 16°, and this morning is clear sky, bright sun and a the forecast is for temps in the 40’s. Typical spring weather.

  5. Hey! A whole new look! I like it! I’ve been terribly busy and distracted, and unable to visit lately. Though the format has changed, it’s nice to know I can view the same quality photos on the occasions when I am able to amble over here.

  6. Wow! How beautiful… the whole composition just pops! The yellow hued trees really add the contrast. This could be created in a wonderful, artful, winter painting–either by hand on canvas or digital for the happy painter. 🙂

    • It’s a pretty spot, isn’t it? I could see that scene in a painting! Someone might have fun doing it.
