Clark Fork backwater

It’s fascinating to me to see a backwater of a river that has chosen to participate in an entirely different set of liquid dynamics from that of its parent.

This was photographed from a small rocky outcrop a couple hundred feet above the river and a mile away at a place where, on hot summer days, Bighorn Sheep lounge around in their pajamas in the shade of an old Ponderosa pine.

A change of scene

From the lower slopes of Henry Peak

For some time now I’ve wanted to spruce up the looks of my site a little, especially in a way that can allow me to display some of the photos in a somewhat larger format. Recently a couple of things motivated me to finally do that.

The first was a visit here from Ed Vatza who has an incredibly wonderful blog on WordPress called It’s My Nature. Besides absolutely blowing me away with both the subjects and quality of his photos, he caused me to realize that a larger photo format is possible on WordPress. I looked and found one that allows a flexible width and immediately decided to use it. I sincerely hope those who are used to visiting here will approve.

The second motivator was an option recently made available by WordPress to use a “threaded” system for comments and that’s also something I’ve wished for many times, one where it’s possible to reply to a comment and tie the reply directly to the comment. That seems to make a whole lot more sense to me. Again, I hope everyone will be comfortable with the new format.
