As beautiful as a sunrise is — I always think the real beauty is on the mountains in the opposing view. Same here from my deck,… the coral/pink touching the mountains in the west at first light … can’t beat it! Great shots Montucky!

Funny!! I often am amused, entertained, ??? at the difference between the east and west view whether sunrise or sunset.

I prefer the light on the mountains, too. At home here we don’t get to see that kind of light on them very often, especially this time of year, just due to the immediate topography.

I happen to love cloudscapes. When I’m photography sunsets or sunrises, I usually will turn around and photography the opposite direction. Cloudscapes are pure sky art. 🙂 These are lovely, montucky.

Count me in as the easily amused. I like the touch of light on the mountains in the west, too.
BTW, this is a good lesson. It’s easy to get lost in looking through a camera’s viewfinder. I try to remember to look up and around so as not to miss something. Glad you did, too.

It certainly does pay to keep looking around. The light is constantly changing as is the scenery when you’re moving: there’s so much to catch! I seem to do fairly well with that but now I am really working on doing a better job with the technical details.

What would I do without you and Ann at From the Front Porch? Being a night owl (rarely to bed before 3-5) it’s not a normal thing for me to see the sunrise except in summer BEFORE bedtime. With you two I still get to experience such beautiful mornings and in such gorgeous locations. Thank you..

I’m definitely one of the members of the Center for the Easily Amused, because I love both of those pictures. And I love looking west at dawn, it’s often prettier and more delicately colored than east.
(Same with looking away from the sunset–it’s often very beautiful when the warm light hits the mountains.)
