While thick ice makes back road travel nearly impossible most of the high country trail heads inaccessible, experimentation with the camera can still be done to get ready for photographing the beauty of spring. Here’s today’s catch; short and long range:

As I got into the Jeep to start out this morning, I found that Jack Frost had decorated the windshield. I though it rather pretty. This shot is at a range of about a foot and a half.

Ten miles or so to the west, some of the cliffs on the north slope of the Coeur d’Alene Mountains are showing some pretty tall ice falls. I would estimate these to be around two hundred feet from top to bottom. Range, about 2 miles.
