With about four inches of new snow overnight, the river banks were redecorated yet again and just a small break in the clouds brightened up the scene. A few miles down the canyon the snow continued.

We have received very little snow in our area so far. I’ve been waiting for a heavy snow to photograph this winter! Gorgeous scene captured…. one to print and display.

Yes, a new coat of snow really does provide some photo ops if the sun comes out. After the long period of having no new snow and no sun, it’s nice to have a little of both.
This is a photo that I might try to print: it looks pretty good in the larger sizes. Thanks for mentioning that!

It might tempt a few, as long as all that can be accomplished in about ten seconds including the dry off and warm up phase. Actually the temp was around 30° yesterday when that photo was taken.

Thanks, Preston! One of the pleasures of living in this area is the easy access to many beautiful scenes. The trick that many people miss out on is just being out there as much as I am able to. As you know, lighting is so vital to photography, and being out a lot just multiplies the chance of being at the right place at the right time.

Oh, that’s lovely!! You really do get better (well, by a “more wintry” understanding of better anyway) weather there than we do here. We just got a little bit of snow here, not even enough to cover the grass.
And it’s already mostly melted away.
I love the snow on the driftwood logs and the beautiful blue sky. Gorgeous!

On the night before we had 4 inches of snow and during the day the sun came out briefly. A snowstorm was still hiding the mountains down river, making the usual scene entirely different.
