  1. Oh yes, and how beautiful! I would love to spend an hour there in person simply absorbing the ambience.

  2. This is a favorite place of white-tail deer, muskrat, an occasional beaver and all kinds of water fowl, and I can understand why they like it.

  4. Yes, I too find the tall grass very soothing, especially with the little stream meandering through it.

  6. Still a lot of green this year here too. I suppose it still hasn’t been all that cold yet.

  7. Pinhole,

I guess the trick is to catch the grass before it turns brown and the leaves just as they turn color. I hope I’m there at that second!

  8. Scienceguy,

Yes it has been warm this fall. We still haven’t had a deep frost yet here in the valleys.

  9. Beautiful setting, beautiful shot. Is the ground under the grass solid, or is it marshy?

  10. The ground is solid, but there are numerous channels through it made by beavers which, hidden in the tall grass, make it quite interesting to walk through. If you’re not careful, you encounter an unexpected two foot drop, sometimes with water in the bottom. It’s sure to check the alignment of your spine at the very least.

  13. Sara,

That’s only about 3 miles west of Plains on the river side. Not remote, but pretty. I’ll post more photos from there.

  14. Silken,

I think that tall green grass goes well with any part of the country, doesn’t it!

  15. My favorite time in the fall is just before the colors really explode and there is still lots of green for contrast. So, yes! Green definitely counts. I love it!
