I saw butterflies like those when I was out hiking the other day. I didn’t get pictures though, and I’m so glad you did because they’re *beautiful*!

They are pretty little guys, aren’t they! I’ve seen them since early April when they were up in areas where the snow banks were still 5 feet deep. They are always a welcome sight though.

I finally figured out what the distance is with which butterflies are comfortable. For these, though, I found some blossoms they seemed to like, moved to within range, stayed very still and waited until they came in to me. Bigger critters aren’t quite that easy though.
