Shy

These two blossoms (and I could find only the two on 4 miles of trail) were almost completely hidden beneath a prolific stand of Devil’s Club today which was growing along a stream. The blossoms are about 3/4 inch across and stand only about two inches from the ground. They face straight down.

By tipping the tiny faces upwards very gently with a small twig, I found them to be quite pleasant and certainly unique. I wonder why they are so shy!
