Still don’t like that name!

Vetch. Somehow it seems unjust for a very pretty flower to have such a name. I greatly prefer calling it “Wild Pea”. Oh, well… it doesn’t seem to mind.

  3. Tabbie,

As you can see, these cover the ground in many areas now. I don’t remember them ever blooming like this before: must be due to all of the winter snow we had last winter.

  4. silken,

The hillside is about a mile from my house and I just had to photograph that scene today when I saw it. I was just taking my dog out for a walk.

  6. Does it help that here in the northeast it is called “Crown” Vetch? Sort of gives it a little extra class! It’s common here in the fields,… although it’s a challenge to walk through, really snags at your ankles. But for roadside and field blues, you can’t beat Vetch and of course Chickory.

  7. Tabbie,

They certainly decorate the roadsides in the area. There are large splashes of purple everywhere.

  8. Cedar,

Yes, I like “Crown” Vetch much better, although I still prefer Wild Pea. We have Chickory here too but I haven’t seen it in bloom yet. It sure is colorful though and there are usually a few large parches of it around.
