Probably doesn’t like visitors, either!

Ran across this in my wanderings today. You may notice the subject isn’t centered in the photo very well… didn’t want to take any extra time!

No trespassing!

  2. Too funny! I saw this in a store last summer, but “trespassers” was replaced with “shoplifters.” :O)

Although I haven’t stopped by in a while, when I was asked to recommend some wonderful blogs today, I immediately thought of yours. I thought I’d drop in to let you know that your blog has been rated “E” for excellence. You can pick up your award here.

  3. Bernie,

In that particular location I’m not quite sure if they posted that just for laughs or if they really mean it!

  4. Elizabeth,

I hadn’t seen this version before today, but we’re not exactly at the leading edge of things here.

Thank you for the recommendation! I will follow up on that program. I haven’t seen it on WordPress yet and there are some great blogs here.

  6. Is that blood on lower right side of the sign? Not yours, I hope!!

  7. I’m guessing it’s someone’s sense of humor, Sumedh, although I don’t think they like trespassers!

  8. Winterwoman,

I don’t know about that. I assumed it was orange paint left over from a previous painting of the sign. (Orange painted signs and sections on posts and trees are a message here that hunting is not allowed on that property.)

  9. Well, the sign DID get your attention. I think the owner may be quite serious through his humor, yes?

  10. I think it is a good way for him to make a point. That area contains about three dwellings. Access is by a USFS road but it passes through a half mile of private land. That half mile is where this sign is located, and there are several more “no trespassing” signs along the stretch. The folks there are obviously serious about keeping people off their land, but I don’t know what kind of a problem caused the militancy. Next time I go up there I’ll stop and ask.

  12. Didn’t stick around for coffee and conversation, eh? 😆 I agree with all, this is very funny! Then again, is that “real” blood on that sign? 😉

  13. Hey, that’s the kind of sign I’m used to seeing in and around the Smoky Mountains.

  14. Lori,

I hope it’s funny! Couldn’t resist taking a photo either way.

  15. Janet,

I think the conversation might have been one way, and I wonder what would be in the coffee. If that is real blood, then it probably isn’t the best place to take a picture, is it?

  16. Malcolm,

I saw a few signs like that in the Carolina swamps in the mid 60’s too, and I knew those moonshiners meant it! Probably hasn’t changed all that much now either.

  17. The picture is remarkable clear and focused, considering the circumstances.

I would have likely dropped the camera. (And maybe peed, just a little bit.)

  18. Due mainly to lots and lots of practice, all of the shots I take back over my shoulder while running at full speed are clear and focused, Pinhole!

  20. Yes, it turned out to be uneventful although I kept hoping to run into a moose because there was moose sign everywhere. Part of the hike was through an area that was logged last fall and I’ll do a post about that a little later. What a disgrace that is!
