Thompson River in winter

Usually by this time of year this area is inaccessible, so I was happy to get a winter photo of it.

  2. I know a Thompson…probably no relation. I still enjoyed looking at the beautiful picture, though.

  3. Thanks for your kind words, narziss! It has been very rewarding to find that there are lots of other folks who enjoy seeing the things that are so important to me!

  4. Pinhole,

The “Thompson” name has been given to a lot of places in northwest Montana where David Thompson explored and traded furs early in the 1800’s. If I were he, I would have been most proud to have had this river named after me.

  6. Thanks, Bernie! I saw some ice chunks on the river today, so I’ll bet this part is frozen over by now. Got there just in time!

  7. Oh, this is beautiful. I love the fall colors still showing proudly under the snow!

Ah, and, I’ve “tagged” you in my most recent blog entry. *smile*

  8. This will be the last look at that part of the stream until spring now. The pools are frozen over and snow now covers the banks. I’m already looking forward to seeing it again in spring.
