Usually by this time of year this area is inaccessible, so I was happy to get a winter photo of it.

Pinhole,
The “Thompson” name has been given to a lot of places in northwest Montana where David Thompson explored and traded furs early in the 1800’s. If I were he, I would have been most proud to have had this river named after me.

This will be the last look at that part of the stream until spring now. The pools are frozen over and snow now covers the banks. I’m already looking forward to seeing it again in spring.
