Fall colors 2

Filed under: Autumn, Montana, Nature, Outdoors, Photography, Photos, Pictures — montucky @ 6:04 pm

More bright colors are showing up around here every day, and with the night time temperatures starting to drop (it was 28º last night), it won’t be long until the aspens and larch join in.
Here are a few that have already turned in this little part of the world:

  1. Absolutely beautiful pics. Those bright autumn colours combined with this deep blue sky works great. Must be a wonderful place were you live 😉

  2. Yes, wissel, it’s a beautiful place. It’s still wild enough that Mother Nature can keep it well decorated. I hope we all will have the wisdom to keep it this way!

Thank you for stopping by and commenting!

  3. Beautiful images Terry, I really like the bottom one with the bush and landscape included. I don’t think we are going to have a great fall here, the late freeze and drought I have heard are going to kill the color, but you never know until it gets here. Nice work 🙂

  4. I wondered what we’d have this year too because of the drought, but it hasn’t seemed to affect the colors. Most of the yellows haven’t started to come out yet though: the ones I’ve shown are fairly small shrubs. The aspens are still green.

  5. Beautiful! I wonder what it looks like to a caterpillar.

  6. This being the first of October and knowing where you are located makes me wonder about the aspen trees not turning gold yet. The aspen have started turning in parts of Colorado and New Mexico – I wonder if aspen are affected that much due to drought conditions. Let’s hope for some “gold” in your area in the next week or so. And then you can share some beautiful photos with us. Thanks.

  7. Pinhole,

I wonder too. The caterpillars are moving into their winter quarters by now though. It’s getting cold out there at night!

  8. Mary,

I was in the high country this afternoon, and there are a few aspens starting to turn now. The ones in my yard are still green though, even the ones the young bucks are tearing up polishing their antlers. There are even some larch showing yellow needles.

  9. Hi Terry, I am really captivated by the last shot – your placement of the bush is really very cool. Nice work.

  10. Thanks Lori! That’s a pretty spot almost directly below my house. I get some nice scenery and good fishing all at once!
