Tansy

Looks pretty enough: who’d know it’s poisonous? Tanacetum vulgare

Tansy

It’s also non-native, having come from Europe. Now, exactly how this one made it all the way to the high ridge near the top of Patrick’s Knob is a mystery to me!

  2. Yes, Maybe they did. It was a surprise seeing another new blossom this late in the summer.

  4. This is a really nice shot Terry. It’s one of the few wildflowers left in this area too.

  5. silken,

I guess they are fairly potent although they have been used for medicine.

  6. Lori,

I guess we’re finally running out of wildflowers for this season. I’m sorry for that to happen, but the new fall colors will take over soon.

  7. Wind or birds probably carried it up there. Pretty bright for this time of year as more and more of the yellows (not counting fall leaves) start slipping away.

  8. It’s probably the last to bloom this year. It won’t be long until snow time now.

  9. Pretty photo, Montucky! That looks like a member of the Carrot genus, which features many edible, and many poisonous, plants.

  10. It’s probably fairly potent. I didn’t see where any of the wildlife had nibbled on it!

  12. It’s one of the last bloomers of the summer. Maybe trying to get its color in before the long months of white!
