Nature’s leaf garden

Across a canyon from the blackened mountain sides of the Chippy Creek fire scene, and four thousand feet up the other side this leaf garden is going through a normal season’s change of colors. Life goes on as usual in the wild country.

  1. beautiful shot – I love when fall sneaks in… Fall is sooooo lovely. I recall in the back of my mind driving up mt. bisbee and seeing the road paved with golden leaves. At no time does nature impress me the most.

  2. Autumn is my wife’s favorite time of year. She loves the cool air and all of the fall colors.

A few years ago I was elk hunting in the high country west of here and on the road up in the Jeep I drove for over 20 miles on the gold needles of the Western Larch.

  3. With the unseasonable heat here, it’s hard to imagine Fall is erupting somewhere. I’m looking forward to it. It’s always been my favorite time of year, too.

  4. It has surprised me a bit this year, too. After setting several all-time records for heat just a few weeks ago, I see it is 38º this morning. There was a lot of red showing on the high hillsides yesterday already, but I think part of the reason for that is the dryness out there.

  6. We usually have our first snow early in September, then it warms up for about a month of Indian summer. We’ll see this year though, but there are lots of leaves starting to turn already.
