Bighorns in the wrong place

Yesterday while vectoring around to find a good angle for photographing the progress of the Chippy Creek fire, I ran into these Bighorns at the edge of the prairie. The problem is, if the current effort to stop the fire’s northeasterly progress isn’t successful, they are right in its path. They do have an escape route across the prairie and I hope they will be smart enough to use it if necessary.

He isn’t the biggest ram in the world, but he’s approaching a full curl and he’s big enough to be the head of this family. He was lying down apart from the rest and stood up when I approached but wouldn’t let me get any closer.

Here is about half of his harem and some of his offspring.
