It was an orange day, from the clouds at sun rise

  2. The tiger lilies do have a lot of color to them. My wife had so many of them this year she couldn’t give them all away. I remember them probably better than any other domestic flower from my childhood.

  4. Thanks Bernie. Seems like in the summer there’s always something colorful to look at here. I plan to capture as much as I can before the snow comes.

  5. Great shots! Everything will probably become more and more colorful as we head into fall, and then we’ll be stuck with white for a while.
I really enjoy your macro work, by the way.

  6. Yes, we’ll have oranges and reds in the not-so-distant future, won’t we? We’re getting into the “almost winter” season. I imagine you have the same four seasons that we do: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction.

I’ve been working hard on the macros and thanks for the encouragement!

  7. I spent almost every day yearning to leave this part of the country and get back West. Your blog certainly doesn’t make it any easier on me!

  8. I know exactly what you mean because I spent many years doing that too. Some day, when the time is right, you’ll come back. Let’s hope those of us here have the good sense to keep from destroying too much of it in the mean time!

  9. Montucky – that second photo was just amazing. I love how you see the the shadows of the stamens falling across the lower end of the butterfly. That is a truely beautiful shot and so far probably my favorite you’ve done. It’s a bit like the butterfly flew into a world of lines. (I’ll call it my favorite today and probably be proven a liar tomm. :o)

I don’t know why orange however, you capture the color beautifully.

  10. Did those clouds shear off that tree? And is it just me, or does it look like that butterfly is roasting hot dogs?

    Great work.

  11. Thanks, Lori! I’m glad you liked it. It’s hard to go wrong with the lily and the butterfly teamed up together for a photo shoot. You’re right about all the lines.

  12. Yep, Pinhole, that was one powerful sunrise! I’m not quite sure I know exactly what the butterfly is doing, but I think he does.
