Yesterday I tracked down what I think is a Blanket Flower after seeing a really nice photo of one by aullori.

Thanks, Bernie!
Luckily there was a plant with little pink bell-like blossoms behind it. I still haven’t ID’d that plant yet. It would be so much easier if Mother Nature would put little tags on all of her flowers like they do in the nurseries!

Okay that last comment got me giggling!! Actually I’m pretty postive on your ID here. I relooked it up and there is only one blanket flower in both yours and my area (and they are the same) – so they might be a slight bit differnt just based upon soils conditions, area, etc..
I found a bell too – it was purple or blue but a pretty distinct bell. Very cute, very small but lovely in it’s simplicity.
You just took one heck of a lovely photo – you had the perfect subject (obviously) and you’ve got down that whole capturing the flower. I still think your ability to distinguish fine lines in yellows is a real gift. I loved the angle!

Yes, I really love this flower, and have found quite a few around here now that I know what to look for.
I saw some bluebells on a hike today. I got one shot that isn’t too bad.
As you have said, yellows are hard! Some times it’s nice to be lucky!
