To paraphrase the estimable Bill Monroe: “Full moon of montucky, keep on shining…” A beautiful image with quite a sense of movement where the clouds sweep around the moon.
Eerie but beautiful all at the same time. Watching the moon rise in the sky captures my attention, but I’ve never been able to capture a satisfying photo. Where’s the love button when you need it? I don’t just like this one, Montucky, I love it.
I’m glad you like it! I reviewed this photo many times before I decided to post it, knowing that the probability was that each person would see it differently.
I just happened to catch this at the right time. To the east of our house there is a hill and as I happened to look out that way the moon was just rising above the top of it.
That is SO beautiful! What a shot.

Thanks Anneli. Fortunately the photo caught the scene that drew me to it.

Thanks Jo. The moon can be so pretty as it rises. There’s just a brief time to catch it though.

Looks like it’s playing hide & seek
Comment by TheDailyClick — January 28, 2013 @ 5:11 am
It did seem to be. Soon after this photo the moon ducked back into the clouds.

Branches in full silhouette by the moon makes a wonderful photo!
Comment by WildBill — January 28, 2013 @ 7:38 am
They sure do! Those Antelope Bitterbush are favorites of mine too because of how good they are for the deer in a tough winter.

Movement is right. When there are clouds like that around the moon has lots of ways to be exciting … or hide.

That is one of the best moonrise shots I’ve seen. I love its qualities, the colors, it’s really quite stunning.

At first I thought it might be too dark, on the moody side, but I finally decided that I really liked it.

It’s a little surprising to see that color in the night sky, but it makes a pretty scene, doesn’t it!

I wish that I had taken that while camped in the high country. It seemed that the moon was making an invitation to an interesting night.
