Let’s face it, it’s hard to get any really serious traveling done when you’re anywhere near the Mission Mountains! My trip to Missoula yesterday to have the Wing serviced had many delays. Here are just a few:
If I saw anyone riding a touring bike through this area on a beautiful sunny day like yesterday was without pausing frequently to admire the scenery, I’d have to stop him and check for a pulse!

nice distractions!

Beautiful shots! Not bad for not even having to leave the highway!

Beautiful Distractions is right Montucky! – Great captures. Boy, it is nice outside – 2 days ago I had a fire in the woodstove – today, all of the windows open and blue sky everywhere!

silken,
They gave me an excuse to ride a little out of my way to get a better view.

wolf,
Yes, it’s a little unusual for me to take a photo from the highway, but these are special, and stay visible for a long distance.

Ann,
You came back at almost exactly the right time, but the 82º we registered today feels very hot to me! I’m still used to the 50’s!

I think my heart just expanded at those photographs. I’m going to be visiting Missoula next week with an eye to possibly moving there (and going to graduate school) in the Fall. I knew it would be beautiful, but I didn’t know how much so!
I’m so looking forward to being distracted like that.

That’s great, Sara! I hope you have a great time in Missoula! These photos were taken about 45 miles from there. Right now we’re having very warm sunny weather, but the forecast for next week isn’t as good. I hope it won’t be too bad while you’re here and that you will have a chance to get around a little and see some of the area.

It has been so long since I have seen mountains, any kind of mountains, with my very own eyes. Ahhh, montucky, to live with these giants must be a bit like perfection.

Yes, Bo, it is. For me our tall mountains help keep everything in perspective. I’m so anxious to be able to get up into the high places again where one can sit and look for fifty miles in several directions.

Montucky, -it felt hot to me too! And today and tomorrow to be more of the same. I have all of the windows open and will shut the house up as soon as it warms up! I walk early – I am a huge heat wimp and complain all summer although I’ve been trying to work on my summer “attitude”
!
It seems like we usually get a very warm teaser week mid-May and then it usually snows – at least in the mountains – on Memorial Day!

I’m a heat wimp too, Ann, even though I spent many years in the Arizona desert. I also get concerned that with the hot weather and a little wind, the country dries out so badly.
