Six word memoir
February 21, 2008 by montucky
My friend Sandy at My Inner Edge tagged me for a new meme. It’s a six word memoir, inspired by Hemingway, who once bet ten dollars that he could sum up his life in six words. He came up with: For Sale: baby shoes, never worn.
Here are the meme rules:
1. Write your own six word memoir.
2. Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like.
3. Link to the person who tagged you in your post and to this original post if possible so we can track it as it travels across the blogosphere.
4 .Tag five more blogs with links.
5. And don’t forget to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play!
I found this meme to be quite an interesting one to consider. Here’s my entry:
“Look at what’s outside the cities!“
I tag Wolf at Irrelevant cheetah, Silken at Did You Know?, Pinhole at Pinhole’s Blog, Lori at Random Musings to participate if you would like to. (And anyone else who wishes to join in is invited!)

Interesting…I’ll have to think on this one.
I thought you might find it interesting! It leaves lots of options.
Beautiful rephotograph! It is fun, it would be a good exercise to do every day. My word choice seems to change with my mood
It really is a good exercise. I changed mine a dozen times until I finally had to quit to make the post.
I, too, must give this some thought. I have a feeling that I’m going to have to submit more than once.
I’m also glad you tagged Pinhole on this one so I didn’t have to.
“Look at what’s outside the cities!“
That is so amazingly awesome. It fits you perfectly!!!! Thanks also for the tag I’ll play (but need at least one day to muse.)
Yeah, Wolf, I made sure I got both of you guys. For such a simple meme, this one had me going!
Lori,
Yes, it takes time to decide, re-decide, etc. on this one! (And it seems so simple at the start!)
Great choice! You did a great job!
AK Adventurer,
Thanks! You are certainly invited to give this a try as well if you have an inclination!
Hell I can’t even use fifty words to describe my life the last few weeks Terry, but the image is amazing
I hope that means the playoffs have been good for your team!
Good work, Terry…I just keep thinking of new ones daily–my most recent is:
“Aging flower-child bent on awakening…”
hm, I left a comment here earlier….
l love your motto, so perfect. I will play along. still thinking what/how to say
Sandy,
I keep thinking about it too. I like your latest: after reading your blog for quite a while now, I think it fits! It’s an interesting exercise in analysis and another one in articulation., both of which are beneficial.
Silken,
It takes a few iterations, doesn’t it? This might even be a challenge for your kids: I would be interested in seeing what they might say!
nice! I’ll have to tag them and have them post it on their blogs!! great idea.. thanks!
Which are their blogs? Please let me know if they post it!
Nice memoir. Don’t shout it too loud though, or everyone in the cities will head out into the country and screw it up–mainly because they’ll bring million dollar houses and strip malls with them.
Malcolm
They’re already doing that here, at least the houses. One of the biggest problems with that now is that trying to protect houses that were built where they shouldn’t be is taking up so much of the Forest Service budget. Fighting a fire in the urban/woodland interface costs 10 times what it does in an area without all the homes. Guess who has to pay for that?
montucky, I’ve posted my six word memoir here: http://silken-didyouknow.blogspot.com/2008/02/did-you-know-i-could-sum-up-my-life-in.html
What an excellent choice! I have always liked that other blog of yours anyway, and maybe that’s why.
thanks montucky. and thanks for stopping by my daughter’s blog. she was thrilled that you commented and she replied back. she also says you are so nice!
that other blog of mine…I’ve told you before how hard it is to write in it at times. I think being in the middle of sowing those seeds makes it a little too difficult at times…
I read her reply. Your daughter is very sweet!
perfect memoir and depiction!
